Bound to Jesus

Faith is being literally bound to Jesus. Have you seen a branch that has been grafted to a tree? A branch from one tree is wrapped and bound to another, and over time, the branch and tree begin to grow together. The branch grows so entwined with the tree that it no longer needs to be wrapped – they literally become one. That’s what happens when we place our faith in Christ. There is a spiritual closeness like no other – we become part of His royal priesthood. We are complete. We are forgiven. We are able to walk in His power and experience freedom like never before. Fear no longer has a home when we are one with Jesus. Our residence is bound and fixed where no enemy can be.
I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener… Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me. (John 15:1, 4-5)
[Jesus] is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be in you. (John 14:17)
You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. (Romans 8:9)
Anyone joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. (I Corinthians 6:17)
Lord, having lived with You, I couldn’t imagine life without You. You are closer than a friend – You are my very source of life. Thank You for Your promise to never leave.

Enjoy Christmas this year; put aside the virus

 This Christmas season and the Christmas season last year--2020, have been challenging, for sure!  The virus has taken away many freedoms we have held dearly and maybe have taken for granted. But,   you and I don't have to stay hostage to this virus or any virus. We can still be happy and enjoy the   season. Sure, many of us are unable to be with family and friends and that hurts; that hurts a lot.  But, when you think about the real meaning of Christmas and why so many of us celebrate it, we   can still be happy and positive and enjoy the happiness of the season.   Christians celebrate Christmas because that is when Christ was born.   Thanksgiving at Grandma’s by Toni Star November, then and now, signals just one thing to me, Thanksgiving at Grandma’s.  Thanksgiving at her house was paradise!  The atmosphere of food, laughter and love was wonderful and unforgettable.  Thanksgiving morning at our house was busy.  Mom would prepare a salad or pie; we kids would dress up in our good clothes and then go outside to play. We had to be careful not to get dirty.  Good clothes in our family didn’t come easy.  We weren’t poor but we were very frugal with money and food.  Meanwhile, Dad stayed busy in the garage checking out the old Chevy.  He’d check the oil, water and the battery and then give the tires a kick, for readiness.  Often, I would go into the garage from time to time to see how he was doing.  Often, he found things for me to do-such as checking the oil and water and inspecting the car battery to see if was clean and water filled to the proper level.
