God is but a whisper away! by Toni Star

Lately, with all the scandals, bad weather and costs of everything skyrocketing; it is easy for some to say, “That’s it, I’m giving up! I’m not going to do my best anymore! Why should I keep giving 100% when all around me I see nothing but mediocrity and negativity?

There are many people in the Bible who started out positive and good but who later because of their actions and wrong thinking, became negative and wanted to give up.

Saul is a good example. He was the first king of Israel who started off fine; however, his relationship with God became so thin that God was unable to communicate with him. Saul’s fall from God went downhill quickly. He became deranged and slaughtered God’s priests, tried to kill his own son twice and hounded David for years until he finally died after talking with a witch because he was so far away from God.

Of course, most of us know about Job. Job was close to God, he loved god and he loved people. He used his wealth, wisdom and knowledge to help those in need. Then, all kinds of horrible things began to happen to him; he lost his wealth and his ten children were taken away.

He was left with nothing but terrible suffering. His friends surrounded him and they did nothing but insult him and accuse him of all sorts of bad things. Then, he has a meeting with God—face to face. God talks with him and gives him relief and many blessings—after conversing and questioning him. It is truly a great story of trials and tribulations and how God responded to Job.

All of us go through, from time to time, trials and tribulations, don’t we? But, do we give up? O.K. Maybe we feel like giving up and perhaps for awhile, we do. But, don’t give up or give in because, you see, God knows what is going on with you—all the time and He will help you. But, you must turn to Him and ask Him for help.

What is fantastic about God is that He knows all the time what is going on with you and will help you. So, turn to Him and ask for help. He is but a whisper away!

    Wow, what an article! God is just a whisper away if we choose to be with God. No one is forced to be with God. The choice is ours. If God is only a whisper away then God is standing next to you.

Enjoy Christmas this year; put aside the virus

 This Christmas season and the Christmas season last year--2020, have been challenging, for sure!  The virus has taken away many freedoms we have held dearly and maybe have taken for granted. But,   you and I don't have to stay hostage to this virus or any virus. We can still be happy and enjoy the   season. Sure, many of us are unable to be with family and friends and that hurts; that hurts a lot.  But, when you think about the real meaning of Christmas and why so many of us celebrate it, we   can still be happy and positive and enjoy the happiness of the season.   Christians celebrate Christmas because that is when Christ was born.   Thanksgiving at Grandma’s by Toni Star November, then and now, signals just one thing to me, Thanksgiving at Grandma’s.  Thanksgiving at her house was paradise!  The atmosphere of food, laughter and love was wonderful and unforgettable.  Thanksgiving morning at our house was busy.  Mom would prepare a salad or pie; we kids would dress up in our good clothes and then go outside to play. We had to be careful not to get dirty.  Good clothes in our family didn’t come easy.  We weren’t poor but we were very frugal with money and food.  Meanwhile, Dad stayed busy in the garage checking out the old Chevy.  He’d check the oil, water and the battery and then give the tires a kick, for readiness.  Often, I would go into the garage from time to time to see how he was doing.  Often, he found things for me to do-such as checking the oil and water and inspecting the car battery to see if was clean and water filled to the proper level.
